INFO 8.10.2025:
Due to the slow processing of payment refunds, we have to postpone registration for the trip by a week. According to the payment service provider, refunds for card payments can take 1-15 banking days. Refunds for all payments were made on October 2, 2025. To ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate, we are moving the registration date, and the new date is Thursday, October 16, 2025. We apologize for the situation.

Welcome to Vasatokka, Inari, Lapland. This page is for a special trip for AFS students.
Step 1. Read this INFO:
Time: 8.12.2025 – 13.12.2025
Starting point: Rovaniemi train station, Monday, 8.12. at 15.00
Bus transfer to Vasatokka Youth Center, Inari (distance 320km) and back to Rovaniemi on Saturday, 13.12. at 12.45
What´s included?
- All transfers during a trip. Transfers to and from Rovaniemi are not included.
- Accommodation, 3-6 people/room, shared bathroom and toilets.
- Full board in Vasatokka (breakfast, lunch, dinner, evening snack)
- Activities, as marked in the itinerary: snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, wilderness skills, Lapland souvenir workshop, visit Siida Museum and a guided tour, Reindeer farm visit (Kaksama reindeer farm), snow carving, snowgames and a trip to the Arctic Ocean.
Step 2. Book and pay for your trip

- You need to make a reservation with your full name (first name and surname). Do not use your parents or host family’s name.
- Payment is made on the booking website via Paytrail, and you must pay for the trip at the time of booking. You can pay with most major credit cards (Visa, master card), Debit card, and MobilePay or online banking.
Step 3. Wait for when your adventure starts
- We´ll send you an information letter later, before your trip.
- Book your train or bus tickets to Rovaniemi on 8.12. and back 13.12.2025
- Please note that you are required to be at the Rovaniemi train station on Monday, the 8th of December, when buses depart
- Buses leave the group at Rovaniemi train station on Saturday, the 13th of December
INFO AND MOST-ASKED QUESTIONS
AFS insurance is valid for the duration of the trip. All AFS rules apply during the trip. AFS volunteers will be present to supervise and guide freetime activities and ensure freetime safety during the trip. You must book and pay for your own travel from your host family’s home to Rovaniemi and, after the trip, from Rovaniemi back to your host family’s home. Please bring your travel documents for the trip to Norway.
Can I stay in the same room with my friend?
We will send the accommodation wishlist before arrival and do our best to accommodate everyone’s needs.
Is there heating in the rooms?
Yes, all rooms have heating, and although this is an old building, we recommend wearing woolen socks and long pajamas.
Can we see the Northern Lights?
Vasatokka is a good place for that; we can not guarantee Northern Light, but “fingers crossed”.
Is there wifi?
Yes, we have a wifi and it is free.

Booking and payment
Booker must be of legal age or have a guardian’s permission to book the trip. The reservation is confirmed when Booker receives a confirmation message. Payment must be made upon booking via Paytrail (credit card or online banking). Booking must be made via the official booking site (https://vasatokka.fi/en/afs-lapland-trip/)
The customer can cancel the reservation under the following conditions:
- Cancellation must always be made in writing by e-mail.
- The whole group or an individual member of the group can be canceled free of charge no later than 60 days before the start date of the reservation.
- 60-45 days before the start date of the reservation, 20% of the total reservation amount will be charged.
- If canceled up to 45-30 days before the date of arrival, 30% of the total reservation will be charged.
- If the cancellation is made 30-14 days before the start of the booking, we will charge 50% of the price of the total reservation.
- If the cancellation occurs 14-0 days before the start date of the booking, we will charge 100% of the price of the total reservation
- If the trip is canceled for health reasons, the customer must provide a medical certificate.
